Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) FAQs

Is Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) really 100% waterproof?

Yes. High-quality LVP with a rigid core (SPC or WPC) is impervious to water. It won't swell, buckle, or warp even if submerged.

Can LVP be installed in bathrooms?

Absolutely. It is one of the best choices for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens due to its waterproof nature.

Does vinyl flooring scratch?

While highly durable, it's not scratch-proof. Heavy furniture dragging or sharp objects can scratch the wear layer. We recommend a minimum 20mil wear layer for homes with pets.

What is the difference between SPC and WPC?

SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) is denser and more rigid, better for durability and temperature changes. WPC (Wood Polymer Composite) is softer, quieter, and warmer underfoot.

Does vinyl flooring fade in sunlight?

Direct, intense sunlight can cause fading over time. However, most premium LVP products have a UV-resistant coating to minimize this effect.

Can you install vinyl over existing floors?

Yes, LVP can often be floated over tile, wood, or vinyl, provided the subfloor is flat and level. Irregularities must be fixed first.

How do you clean luxury vinyl floors?

Simply sweep or vacuum regularly and damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. No waxing or polishing is ever needed.

Is vinyl flooring toxic?

Modern LVP from reputable brands is FloorScore certified, meaning it meets strict indoor air quality standards and is safe for families.
