Staircase Installation FAQs

Can you match my stairs to my new floors?

Yes. We use custom stains and wood species to match your staircase treads to your new hardwood or engineered flooring for a cohesive look.

Do you install solid wood treads?

Yes, we typically replace plywood or carpeted steps with solid hardwood treads (usually Oak) for durability and beauty.

What is a stair nose?

The 'nose' is the rounded front edge of the step. Proper nosing is essential for safety and code compliance. We install flush nosing for a seamless finish.

Can I keep my existing banister and railing?

Yes, we can work around existing banisters. However, we also offer refinishing services if you want to update the color of your handrails.

Are wood stairs slippery?

Wood is slicker than carpet. However, modern finishes provide some traction. We ensure treads are level and stable to maximize safety.

How long does a staircase installation take?

Stairs are labor-intensive. A standard flight typically takes 2-4 days depending on the complexity and finish work required.

What about white risers?

White risers with wood treads is a classic, popular style. We install painted MDF or wood risers to achieve this contrast.

Is it expensive to redo stairs?

Staircases are custom carpentry projects. Due to the detailed labor involved, they are more expensive per square foot than flat flooring.
