Vinyl Flooring Maintenance
One of the biggest selling points of Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) is its "set it and forget it" reputation. While it is incredibly durable, it isn't invincible. Proper care will extend its life by decades.
Daily & Weekly Care
The Golden Rule: Dust First
Micro-scratches from dust and grit dull the finish over time. Sweep or vacuum (without a beater bar) daily. Damp mop weekly with a pH-neutral vinyl cleaner.
Deep Cleaning & Stains
Tough Stains
For ink, wine, or juice, use isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth. Rinse with water immediately.
Scuffs
Black heel marks often rub off with a tennis ball or a melamine sponge (Magic Eraser) used gently.
Protecting Your Investment
UV ProtectionClose blinds during peak sun hours to prevent fading.
Furniture PadsFelt pads on ALL furniture legs are mandatory.
No WaxNever wax LVP. It builds up and ruins the factory finish.
Avoid These Mistakes
- Steam Mops: The heat can damage the vinyl and the adhesive.
- Ammonia/Bleach: Harsh chemicals break down the material.
- Rubber Mats: Rubber backing can cause a chemical reaction that stains vinyl yellow. Use vinyl-backed or woven mats instead.
