Laminate Flooring Maintenance
Laminate is tough, resisting scratches better than wood. But it has an Achilles heel: water. Keeping laminate beautiful is about moisture management and surface protection.
The 3 Golden Rules
- Never use a wet mop. Damp only.
- Wipe up spills immediately.
- Do not use wax, polish, or oil-based soaps.
Dealing with Scratches
While durable, laminate can scratch. Since you can't sand it:
- Repair Kits: Wax pencils matched to your floor color can fill minor nicks.
- Plank Replacement: For heavy damage, we can unclick the floor back to the damaged board and replace it (if you saved extra boxes!).
Recommended Cleaning Routine
Daily
Dust mop or vacuum (hard floor setting). Grit acts like sandpaper.
Weekly
Mist a laminate cleaner onto a microfiber mop. Wipe dry instantly. Never pour water directly on the floor.
